David Walliams dropped by book publisher.

The author

Prolific writer for children and TV personality David Walliams has parted ways with his UK book publisher, according to an announcement.

An official for the publisher stated: "Upon deliberation, and under the leadership of its fresh leadership, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing future works by David Walliams."

It has been reported that the conclusion was reached following an investigation into allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards women.

The publisher did not confirm the specific rationale behind the move, stating: "We do not comment on private personnel issues."

An Illustrious Writing Journey

Walliams ranks among Britain's most successful children's authors, having sold over six tens of millions of copies internationally in dozens of tongues.

His inaugural foray into kids' literature, *The Boy in the Dress*, came out under HarperCollins in 2008.

Some of his books, including *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have found new life as television films.

To date, he has released more than 40 books in total, which features a Christmas book called *Santa & Son*, which came out under HarperCollins this past October.

A Dual Career

His initial claim to fame came on the television comedy show *Little Britain* and has additionally received National Television Awards for his role as a panelist on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was awarded an OBE back in 2017 honoring his contributions to philanthropic and artistic endeavors.

The publisher's decision comes after the naming of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's new chief executive last fall.
