Homages Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt able to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can now articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began spending more time together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the film, adding that he cannot recall "a single day without mirth".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "Claiming that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate essay, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Restricted
This week, a Los Angeles judge agreed to bar the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order placed a security hold on the investigation to limit the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" connected to the active case.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of murder, with a record noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the deaths, public personalities offered different comments.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering divisive statements that were widely condemned by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the those speaking out last week. Talking on his podcast, Rogan labeled the statements as "disturbing" and remarked they revealed a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an aide should have acted when the decision to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
