Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
